The Convent of San Francisco (1460) is the oldest in Pastrana and seats up to 570 people. An ensemble of patio, courtyard, cloisters, several dining areas and even a friendly ghost means that this spectacular building can seem intimate for weddings on a less monumental scale. The owners of the restaurant have years of experience in hosting weddings and have got it down to a fine art.
Your ceremony can take place outdoors by the fountain overlooking the valley or in the magnificent church adjacent to the restaurant (see images). Celebrate with drinks and tapas in one of several open-air areas the convent has to offer: the shady colonnade, the plaza overlooking the olive groves or the charming courtyard. Then proceed indoors to the cloistered patio for the formal wedding breakfast before returning to the courtyard to dance the night away. Luismi, the owner, and his team offer traditional Spanish cuisine, with an emphasis on high quality ingredients.
The restaurant Laurea offers a more intimate affair, with seating for up to 50 people. Celebrate your wedding ceremony in the dappled shade of its terrace and toast the bride and groom before passing through to the elegant dining room where the wedding breakfast will be served. The owner, Cristina, makes sustainability a priority, relying on local, seasonal produce to create innovative dishes.
Alternatively, the ceremony can be performed in the legislative chamber of the Ayuntamiento, a wood-panelled room on the first floor of an old building in the Historic Quarter. After the ceremony you lead your guests through the streets to whichever venue is chosen for the wedding celebration. Don’t be surprised if the Pastrana residents come out to cheer you on your way!
