We know that your guests will come for at least two nights and they will not lack for activities. The acclaimed Rural Spa of Pastrana, built around an old water mill, offers thermal baths and a sauna as well as massage and other treatments. This is a delightful way to occupy a couple of hours … and distract from any pre-wedding nerves.
For the more active, there are nine trails out of the village, ranging from a stroll up to the viewpoint to a two hour hike through the olive groves. The municipal pool is open in the summer holidays and from June to September there is wild swimming in the river nearby at Zorita’s picnic area or further afield at the lake of Bolarque beach. You can also hire kayaks and paddle boards locally.
On the outskirts of the village is Ecocolmena, an apiculture charity that hosts honey tastings in Pastrana. Who would have thought that rosemary honey tastes so different to honey made from thyme? Likewise, wine tasting can be arranged at the Finca Escapada, a 50 minute drive away.
